Increase in Wear Resistance of Traction Wheel via Chromizing: A Study Combining Experiments and Simulations

The wear failure of traction wheels in orchard transport severely restricts the stability conveyors and impedes mechanization work. In this study, thermal-diffusion chromizing method was employed to increase hardness a wheel for enhancement resistance. results show that uniform dense chrome coating with thickness 16 μm formed on surface. revealed have 1752.7 HV benefited from formation Cr-C compounds. A friction test simulation under both dry-friction lubrication conditions were conducted assess enhanced resistance based coefficient loss. QT400 0.37 0.36, respectively, dry conditions.
